Date: Sept 2018
I rarely go on organised trips but in September 2018 I decided to go on a tour of Siberia with the promise of a flight on various Russian planes. The highlight being a flight on an Antonov AN38 at Mirny. We had hoped to have ramp tours on all of the visited airports but sadly this didn't happen excepting Mirny where we were marched up the ramp and back in double quick time in the rain. Therefore all the photos are either taken behind tinted glass or in miserable conditions. Starting at Domededovo to Izhevsk on Izhavia Yak 42. RA-42402. Then on to Ufa by mini bus ( some 6 hours ), from Ufa we flew to Tyumen on Utair ATR-72 VQ-BLH. The next leg was to Irkutsk on Yamal Airlines Sukhoi Superjet RA-89088. The next day we were off again this time to Mirny on Alrosa Tupolev Tu-134 RA-65693. The Diamond mining here is fascinating along with the enormous mines there is a mining museum and geology museum to look around. Heading further North into Polyarny was next on Alrosa's Antonov AN24 RA-46488. We stayed in Udachny a fantastic little town in the middle of no-where. Finally back to DOM on Alrosa Tupolev Tu-154 RA-85757. You can see why I was very frustrated at not getting ramp tours as promised in that list of airports. It would have been heaven.
